DAILY STUDY

We've made a very diligent effort as a family to hold nightly scripture study this summer because Bry leaves too early for the rest of us to get up and read in the morning. Well, since we don't get home until 8:30, then shower, and have dinner, this is what happened a few nights in a row. We knew the kids were exhausted, but these pictures say it all. Didn't help that we were reading all about Isaiah and let's be honest...not much was understood! Brian asked Colton to read because he was dozing off, he got about 5 versus in and started slurring his words. I was laughing to hard to get upset, and Bry looked over, and we decided just to let it be.

Then I started to read. My voice is so amazingly soothing Kaden kicked the bucket next! He usually reads first and he loves it. Bry and I just weren't in the mood, nor were the kids, to spend the next 10 minutes on 3 versus...

Josie was "just going to rest her eyes", so this was her resting spot. She then said to Brian, "Dad, isn't this genus." (genius!) We just busted up laughing. She was out within minutes after Colton.

I had to take a few shots because she simply didn't move. She had her arms all tucked in, and looked so cozy. Needless to say, Bry and I finished off the chapter we were reading, discussed it, and then went in the kitchen to clean up. Not one of the kids budged. It was about 12 before we moved any of them upstairs and into their beds. We figured that during the school year, it is going to HAVE to be early morning scripture study- or else we just won't get very far!
*I will say this. Since we have been reading/studying the scriptures each day, we have become so close as a family. The kids seem happier and more tolerable with each other, and our day goes so much smoother. The other fun thing is that Colton has been asking so many questions about the different stories and Prophets. It is neat to see him truly thinking about why the Lord challenges the Prophets and why the people just don't listen. At 10 years old, he is understanding so much more than I ever did and maybe sometimes still do. It has been a very humbling experience for both Brian and I to answer his questions in regards to the Book of Mormon and the Gospel. I just pray that as we continue to study and learn as a Family, that our children will make better choices and have a better understanding of the Gospel than we as their parents do.
